Tingi lived with his grandmother.


Im yuuz tu luk aafa di kou dem wid ar.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Wan die di suoja dem did kom.

One day the soldiers came.


Dem tek we di kou dem.

They took the cows away.


Tinggi an im granmada did ronwe an go aid.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Dem did aid ina di bush til nait kom dong.

They hid in the bush until night.


Den di suoja dem kom bak agen.

Then the soldiers came back.


Granmada aid Tinggi anda di liif dem.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Wan a di suoja dem put im fut rait pan tap a im, bot im kip kwaiyat.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Wen it did aarait, Tinggi an im granmada kom out.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Dem tek dem taim go uom kwaiyat-kwaiyat.

They crept home very quietly.
