Tingi okwa kala puinakulu.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.


Vo nainakulu ova li hava ka lifa eengobe.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Efiku limwe ope uya ovakwaita.

One day the soldiers came.


Ovakwaita ova shinga po eengobe.

They took the cows away.


Tingi nainakulu ova faduka po ndele tava ka hondama.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Ova ka hondama moixwa fiyo oufiku.

They hid in the bush until night.


Ovakwaita ova ka aluka vali.

Then the soldiers came back.


Tingi okwa holekwa kuinakulu koshi yomafo.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Omukwaita umwe okwa lyata Tingi nomhadi yaye yokolulyo, Ashike Tingi ine linyenga nande nande.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Ovakwaita eshi va ya Tingi nainakulu ova shituluka apa kwa li va hondama.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Ova ya meumbo tava ende tava hondjaunine melimweneno.

They crept home very quietly.
