Tingi ǃxoana ǀxoa ha txun.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.


Ha ǃ’uin ǀxoa ha txun ko gumi.

He used to look after the cows with her.


ǀAm-nǀui sondasi tsigǀae.

One day the soldiers came.


Siǃa ǀ’huicoe gumi te u ǀxoa.

They took the cows away.


Tingi sa ha txun ǃaah te gǀae tcxoma.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Sa u te gǀae tcxoma tzi ǁama ǁ’akoa ko ua gǀu.

They hid in the bush until night.


Te ǁama ǁ’aka sondasie ce gǀae.

Then the soldiers came back.


Txun gǃam Tingi ko ǃaihn nǃu’ubusi ǃka.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Sonda nǀui ǁu ha ǀkai gǃoq te nǃae nǀang.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Ka sa se he sa koqe, Tingi sa ha txun gǃai.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Sa ko ǂha te gǃa’ama ǃaoh.

They crept home very quietly.
