I peel the potatoes.

Ni pumaka kabici.

I chop a cabbage.

Ni pumaka ma kaloti.

I grate the carrots.

Ni tapisa manawa.

I wash the beans.

Na pumaka mupusi.

I cut the butternut.

Ni pumaka muloho wa sipinaci.

I chop the spinach.

Boma bapumaka nyanisi.

My mom chops the onions.

Nyanisi yani lilisa haipumiwanga.

Onions make me cry when they are chopped.
