Tingi napila ni bokukwahae.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.


Nalisa likomu ni bona.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Lizazi leliñwi masole bataha.

One day the soldiers came.


Baba amuha likomu ni kulishimba.

They took the cows away.


Tingi ni bokukwahae bamata ni kuyoipata.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Baipata mwa mushitu kufitela busihu.

They hid in the bush until night.


Cwale masole bakuta hape.

Then the soldiers came back.


Bo kukwahae bapata Tingi mwatasi amatali.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Alimuñwi wa masole amuhata ka lihutu lahae la bulyo kono yena akuza.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Hasekubile hande, Tingi ni bokukwahae bazwa mone baipatile.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Bananalela kwa ndu kakukuza kokutuna.

They crept home very quietly.
