Kuhu ni Likondondo neeli balikani. Kono nebalata kukanganisananga nako kaufela. Zazi leliñwi, balumelelana kubapala mbola yamahutu kuli babone kuli caziba kimañi.

Chicken and Millipede were friends. But they were always competing with each other. One day they decided to play football to see who the best player was.


Baya kwa libapalelo lambola ya mahutu ni kuyokala papali yabona. Kuhu neinani bubebe kono Likondondo nelinani bubebe bobufitisisa. Kuhu ya lahela mbola kwahule kono Likondondo lalahela mbola kwahule luli mane kufitelela kuhu. Kuhu yakala kuishonda.

They went to the football field and started their game. Chicken was fast, but Millipede was faster. Chicken kicked far, but Millipede kicked further. Chicken started to feel grumpy.


Balumelelana kulaha mbola yakunwisa ili fapataa muswali wa mbola mwa linwisezo. Kakukala, Likondondo laba muswali wa mbola. Kuhu yanwisa feela mbola iliñwi. Mi yafita nako ya kuli Kuhu ibukeleze mwa linwisezo la mbola.

They decided to play a penalty shoot-out. First Millipede was goal keeper. Chicken scored only one goal. Then it was the chicken’s turn to defend the goal.


Likondondo la laha mbola ni kunwisa. Likondondo lanyunya mbola ni kunwisa. Likondondo nelilengile mbola ka toho ni kunwisa. Likondondo nelinwisize limbola zeketalizoho.

Millipede kicked the ball and scored. Millipede dribbled the ball and scored. Millipede headed the ball and scored. Millipede scored five goals.


Kuhu neifilikanile hahulu kakunwisiwa. Neeli muluzi ya maswe luli. Likondondo lakala kuseha kabakala litongoko za kuhu.

Chicken was furious that she lost. She was a very bad loser. Millipede started laughing because his friend was making such a fuss.


Kuhu yafilikana hahulu mi yakwaulula mulomo wayona nikumiza Likondondo.

Chicken was so angry that she opened her beak wide and swallowed the millipede.


Kuhu aneikuta kwandu yakopana ni mahe Likondondo. Bo mahe Likondondo babuza, “Kuli uboni mwanake?” Kuhu neisika bulela sesiñwi. Mahe Likondondo aikalelwa.

As Chicken was walking home, she met Mother Millipede. Mother Millipede asked, “Have you seen my child?” Chicken didn’t say anything. Mother Millipede was worried.


Mahe Likondondo hautwa kanzwi kakainyani-nyani, kali, “Hamunituse ima!” Mahe Likondondo aitemauna kuli autwisise hande. Linzwi lautwahala kuzwelela mwahalaa Kuhu.

Then Mother Millipede heard a tiny voice. “Help me mom!” cried the voice. Mother Millipede looked around and listened carefully. The voice came from inside the chicken.


Mahe Likondondo ahuwa, “Belekisa maata ahao aipitezi mwanake!” Makondondo akona kupanga muunkoo maswe ni kusa tabusa. Mi Kuhu yakala kuikutwa kukula.

Mother Millipede shouted, “Use your special power my child!” Millipedes can make a bad smell and a terrible taste. Chicken began to feel ill.


Kuhu yatokola. Yamiza ni kushelula. Yaitimula ni kuhotaula kabakala munyembu wa Likondondo leneimizize.

Chicken burped. Then she swallowed and spat. Then she sneezed and coughed. And coughed. The millipede was disgusting!


Kuhu yahotaula kufitela ikwa Likondondo lene imizize. Mahe Likondondo ni mwana hae ba hohobela kwa kota kuyoipata.

Chicken coughed until she coughed out the millipede that was in her stomach. Mother Millipede and her child crawled up a tree to hide.


Kuzwelela fona foo, likuhu ni likondondo baba lila.

From that time, chickens and millipedes were enemies.
