Tingi naapila nibo kukwaahae babasali.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.


Nalisanga likomu ni bona.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Lizazi leliñwi masole bataha.

One day the soldiers came.


Babaamuha likomo ni kulishimba.

They took the cows away.


Tingi ni bo kukwaahae babasali ba mata ni kuiyopata.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Baipata mwa mushitu kufitela busihu.

They hid in the bush until night.


Cwale masole bakuta hape.

Then the soldiers came back.


Bo kukwaahae Tingi babasali bamupata mwatasi amatali.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Alimuñwi wa masole habeya lihutu lahae fahalimu ahae, kono hakutumana.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Hasekubile hande, Tingi ni bo kukwaahae babasali ba zwa mwateñi.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Bananalela kwa ndu kusina kupanga lilata.

They crept home very quietly.
