Minange ghomungaghu mbadi ghararanga wangu. Amene kupinduka wangu yoyishi nongwenya ‘me!

My little brother sleeps very late. I wake early, because I am great!


Ame yame mutokerithi diyuwa.

I am the one who lets in the sun.


“Yowe nota wange,” ame waNaa.

“You’re my morning star,” says Ma.


Ame kukuyogha nothinda, mbadi nanyanda maghamweno.

I wash myself, I don’t need any help.


Mbadi nayapa meyu ghomatenda ngambi murora ghothinadiwiru ghokunuka ndhanyi.

I can cope with cold water and blue smelly soap.


Naa kunivurukitha, “Wavurama mayegho.” Ame kokuhutha eshi, “Kukya, mbadi yame!”

Ma reminds, “Don’t forget teeth.” I reply, “Never, not me!”


Pakumana kukuyogha, ame kumorora Mama ghomukafumu na Naweghana nokuwa fiyera diyuwa dyodiwa.

After washing, I greet Grandpa and Auntie, and wish them a good day.


Munyima kokushupata nothinda nokughamba eshi “Nomukuru keho ‘me, Naa.”

Then I dress myself, “I’m big now Ma,” I say.


Kukona nikukopere mancanu ghange nokughanga tukanda tomakuha ghange.

I can close my buttons and buckle my shoes.


Kehepa nakonekanga eshi minange ghomumbiru ghadimuke mbudhi dhodhihe dhokushure.

And I make sure little brother knows all the school news.


Mungonda, ame kukondja nirughane thikuma mukehe thirughana.

In class I do my best in every way.


Ame kutenda yinu ‘yi yoyiwa kehediyuwa. Ene thinu ethi nahaka thikumenenapo ne, kupepa nokupepa!

I do all these good things every day. But the thing I like most, is to play and play!
