Tingi gha tungire na nyakudyendi ghomukamadi.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.


Nga ha kunganga ngombe dhawo pofotji.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Diyuwa dimweya maporitha gheyire.

One day the soldiers came.


Hana shimbire ngombe dhawo.

They took the cows away.


Tingi na nyakudyendi ghomukamadi ha tjirire no hondire.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Ha kondire mudiputa kate ghuthiku.

They hid in the bush until night.


Munyimadhopo ha maporitha haka hukire karo.

Then the soldiers came back.


Nyakudya Tingi ghomukamadi ghondekire Tingi mumahako.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Muporitha ghumweya gha mu djatire, ene yene pore.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Apa ha monine ha Tingi na nyakudyendi ghomukamadi kambenene kokawa, ha shwayire mudiputa.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Ha nyomine thipore ha yende kudighumbo.

They crept home very quietly.
