Ondjuxwa naNgoongololo oya li ookuume, ihe oya li haya patathana. Esiku limwe oya tokola ya dhane etanga lyokoompadhi ya tale ngoka a li omudhani dhingi.

Chicken and Millipede were friends. But they were always competing with each other. One day they decided to play football to see who the best player was.


Oya yi ihe kokapale ketanga noya tameke okudhana. Ondjuhwa oya li tayi endelele, ashike ongoongololo oya li tayi endelele shi vulithe po. Ondjuhwa oya thangele etanga kokule, ashike ongoongololo oye li thangele ishewe kokulekule. Ondjuhwa oya li ya sa ondumbo.

They went to the football field and started their game. Chicken was fast, but Millipede was faster. Chicken kicked far, but Millipede kicked further. Chicken started to feel grumpy.


Oya tokola ya ye koopelendi. Tango Ngoongololo oye a li omukwati. Ondjuxwa oya tula mo ashike okoola yimwe. Nopo nduno olufo olwa ningi lwondjuhwa okuya mokoola.

They decided to play a penalty shoot-out. First Millipede was goal keeper. Chicken scored only one goal. Then it was the chicken’s turn to defend the goal.


Ongoongololo oya thanga etanga noya tula mo. Ongoongololo oya lele netanga noya tula mo natango. Ongoongololo oya dhenge etanga nomutse noya tula mo ishewe. Ongoongololo oya tula mo ookola ntano.

Millipede kicked the ball and scored. Millipede dribbled the ball and scored. Millipede headed the ball and scored. Millipede scored five goals.


Ondjuxwa oya li ya geya omolwashoka inayi sindana. Okwa li a thigwa po unene. Ngoongololo okwa li ta yolo noonkondo sho kuume ke a li ti inomo unene.

Chicken was furious that she lost. She was a very bad loser. Millipede started laughing because his friend was making such a fuss.


Ndjuxwa okwa li a geya noonkondo. Okwa ekama okana kwa pwa ko nokwa nina po ongoongololo.

Chicken was so angry that she opened her beak wide and swallowed the millipede.


Ndjuhwa mokushuna kegumbo, okwa tsakanene nayina yaNgoongololo. Yina yaNgooongololo okwe mu pula, “Ino mona po okamwandje mpono?” Ndjuhwa ina yamukula, nayina okwa li a limbililwa.

As Chicken was walking home, she met Mother Millipede. Mother Millipede asked, “Have you seen my child?” Chicken didn’t say anything. Mother Millipede was worried.


Yina yaNgoongololo oku uvu okawi okashona taka igidha taka ti: “Meme kwathela ndje!” Yina yaNgoongololo Okwa tala tala koombinga adhihe e ta pulakene nawa. Ewi olya li tali zi mondjuhwa.

Then Mother Millipede heard a tiny voice. “Help me mom!” cried the voice. Mother Millipede looked around and listened carefully. The voice came from inside the chicken.


Yina yaNgoongololo okwa igidha pombanda, “Longitha oonkondo dhoye mumwandje.” Oongoongololo ohadhi vulu okuninga ezimba lya nika nayi nomulyo wo omwiinayi. Ondjuhwa oya tameke tayi ehama.

Mother Millipede shouted, “Use your special power my child!” Millipedes can make a bad smell and a terrible taste. Chicken began to feel ill.


Ondjuhwa oya pititha ombepo. Tayi pona e tayi hiya mo. Oya tsu omunye, e tayi teshima. Oya kala tayi kolola e tayi kolola natango. Ongoongololo oyi na omulyo omwiinayi.

Chicken burped. Then she swallowed and spat. Then she sneezed and coughed. And coughed. The millipede was disgusting!


Ondjuhwa oya kolola sigo tayi kolola ko ongoongololo. Ngoongololo nomwana oya kookayele komuti ya ka holame.

Chicken coughed until she coughed out the millipede that was in her stomach. Mother Millipede and her child crawled up a tree to hide.


Okuza tuu esiku ndyoka, oondjuhwa adhihe noongoongololo oya kala ye tondathane.

From that time, chickens and millipedes were enemies.
