.یوه ورځ، سويي د سیند په غاړه منډې وهلې.
One day, Rabbit was walking by the riverside.
هیپو هم هلته ګرځيده او شنه کبله (واښه) ېې خوړل.
Hippo was there too, going for a stroll and eating some nice green grass.
د هیپو پام نه و شوی، چې سویه هم دلته ده، په تیروتنې سره د سويي پر پښه وختله، سويی چغې کړې “ړنده ېې زما پر پښې وختلې!!”
Hippo didn’t see that Rabbit was there and she accidentally stepped on Rabbit’s foot.
Rabbit started screaming at Hippo, “You Hippo! Can’t you see that you’re stepping on my foot?”

هیپو له سويي بخښنه وغوښته، خو سويي د هيپو غږ وانه ورېده او په چغو ېې وویل، “یوه ورخ به خامخا خپل غچ درنه اخلم او د دې کار حسابي به دې ورکوې.”
Hippo apologised to Rabbit, “I’m so sorry. I didn’t see you. Please forgive me!”
But Rabbit wouldn’t listen and he shouted at Hippo, “You did that on purpose! Someday, you’ll see! You’re going to pay!”
سویه د خپل غچ اخیستو لپاره لاړه اور ته ېې وویل، “ورشه کله چې هیپو له اوبو راووتله ويي سوځوه، ځکه چې زما پر پښې ختلې ده،” اور ورته یې وویل، “سمه ده زما ګرانې ملګرې، څه چې ته راته وايې همداسې کوم.”
Rabbit went to find Fire and said, “Go, burn Hippo when she comes out of the water to eat grass. She stepped on me!”
Fire answered, “No problem, Rabbit, my friend. I’ll do just what you ask.”
کله چې هیپو له اوبو څخه را ووتله، اور ورمنډه کړه او هیپو ېې وسوزوله، هیپو چغې کړې “وایییییی!!” او د هیپو ويښتان د اور خوراک شول.
Later, Hippo was eating grass far from the river when, “Whoosh!” Fire burst into flame. The flames began to burn Hippo’s hair.
هیپو ژړل او د اوبو خواته ېې منډه کړه، د هغې ټول ویښتان سوزیدلې وو، او په ژړغوني غږ ېې وویل، “زما ښکلي ويښتان وو، زما ټول ويښتان توى شوې!!”
Hippo started to cry and ran for the water. All her hair was burned off by the fire.
Hippo kept crying, “My hair has burned in the fire! My hair is all gone! My beautiful hair!”
سویه خوشحاله وه چې له هیپو ېې غچ واخیسته او د اور په واسطه ېې د هغې ويښتان وسوزول، هیپو سره دا ویره وه، چې اور ورته بيا ځلي تاوان ونه رسوي نو ځکه د اوبو تل ته ولاړه.
Rabbit was happy that Hippo’s hair was burned.
And to this day, for fear of fire, the hippo never goes far from the water.
