Tingi hela ho ninia avó- feto.

Tingi lived with his grandmother.


Nia sempre tau matan ba karau vaka sira ho ninia avó.

He used to look after the cows with her.


Loron ida soldadu sira mai.

One day the soldiers came.


Sira foti hotu kedas karau vaka sira ne’e.

They took the cows away.


Tingi no ninia avó-feto halai sees no subar.

Tingi and his grandmother ran away and hid.


Sira subar iha ai-laran to’o kalan boot.

They hid in the bush until night.


No depois soldadu sira fila mai.

Then the soldiers came back.


Avó-feto subar Tingi iha ai-tahan sira nia okos.

Grandmother hid Tingi under the leaves.


Soldadu ida sama kedas ba nia leten, maibé nia nonok nafatin.

One of the soldiers put his foot right on him, but he kept quiet.


Bainhira seguru ona, Tingi no ninia avó-feto sai ba liur.

When it was safe, Tingi and his grandmother came out.


Sira nonok la’o neneik fila uma.

They crept home very quietly.
